June 29th - Tall Ships (#33)

George, Dan, Doug, Christian and I set out from the beach at Gorge and Craigflower and padddled down to the harbour and then out to the Ogden  Point area. On the way we took in the tall ships festival which was fun. The ships looked great from the kayak perspective! The weather was spectacular – summer is funally here!

June 22nd - Discovery Island (#32)

Heike, Dan and I set of at 9:30 AM for a paddle around Discovery. There was a reasonable ebb and a light SW wind.  We played for a bit in the standing waves and then made our way around counter clockwise. Heike and I were paddling our feathercraft wispers which performed well. I also got to test the windpaddle on my feathercraft and it worked well there too. Suuny and nice, though there was an ominous halo around the sun…

June 15th MEC Paddlefest in Cadboro Bay

I spent the day at Cadboro Bay helping with the MEC paddlefest which seemed like a great success. Lots of fun things to look at and lots of people came by. Dennis and I snuck out for a quick paddle to Jemmy Jones Island after the paddlefest was over.

June 1st, Chatham and Discovery Islands (#24)

George, John and I set out early (7:30 OTW)from Smugglers’ (Maynard) Cove and paddled out and around the Islands. We had a nice ebb helping us on the way out and a flood had begun for the way back. There was a reasonably stiff south west wind, especially on the south end of Discovery, when it was in our faces. Nice to have had a good paddle and to be back by 10:30 AM!
